The mission of OUSD R&E’s Principal Director for Biotechnology is to provide an enduring source of biologically-based solutions while ensuring the U.S. military maintains a lasting advantage to deter conflict and secure the Nation through investment in a self-sustaining, domestic bio-manufacturing ecosystem. As part of this mission, the DoD recently announced a new opportunity that provides investments to American businesses to build domestic bio-production facilities under the Distributed Bio-industrial Manufacturing Program (DBIMP). These investments are intended to strengthen domestic supply chains and sustain America's global prominence in biotechnology.
